Mr Tony Livesey visited Primary 6 and Primary 7 on Tuesday 17 March to talk about his trip to The Holy Land- an exciting experience for the children.

Website and Edublogs

Our website is up and running – the address is auldearnprimary.org – thanks to Mr Campbell for taking on this job.  With regards to the website and also edublogs which the school is planning to set up I have enclosed a permission slip alongwith the newsletter for parents to sign to allow photos of their children to go onto the website or in the various edublogs we have going.

Swimming

As you will have probably seen in the local press, the Swimming Pool is closed at the moment for repairs.  These repairs are due to be finished by 4 May so we are hoping swimming will commence for us on Monday 11 May.

Fundraising

The Parent Council have organised a showing of the film “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” at Nairn Community Centre on Saturday 2 May.  Doors open at 7.30 pm, tickets cost £10 and are on sale at the School Office.

Cross Country Championships

Our cross country athletes attended the championships at Bught Park in Inverness on Friday 20 March. They were a credit to the school and I have received glowing reports from Elizabeth Macdonald, the Active Sports Coordinator, about their attitude and behaviour as well as their performance. The P6/P7 girls returned with the trophy for their section-well done, everyone!! Our thanks to the parents who took them to the event and those who went through to Inverness to support them.

Workshop Evening

This proved to be very successful- a working, sociable evening with parents, senior pupils and staff all working together. It was lovely to see so many of our parents join us.

Bus Children

May I please ask that all children are clear about whether they are on the bus or not at the end of the day? There is always some confusion and children get upset when they are not sure. If we are trying to phone home and there is no answer because their mum or dad may be waiting for them to come off the bus, it can be difficult to know what to do. I know that some parents write it on homework grids or in a notebook which the child has in his/her bag. Thank you for your help in this matter.

Staff Car Park

Could I remind parents that the Car Park is for staff only?  There are limited spaces available and we have had problems with visiting staff not being able to get out of the car park because other cars are blocking their exit.

Tesco Tokens

Please return all Tesco tokens to the school by Monday 1 June as they do not count after the set date. We hope to put them to good use for equipment. Thank you.

Bags for Life

Thank you to everyone who bought a bag.  We still have bags available for sale in the School Office – they are £1.50 each and the money raised will go towards the cost of the bus for Primary 7’s trip to Lendrick Muir in June.

Yours sincerely,

Margaret R Nesbitt
