Parents are important partners in their child’s education. They can greatly help their child settle into a new routine of attending school for the first time or when a child is moving to a new school.
Simple tasks, such as ensuring that the child has the necessary equipment ( e.g. pencil, rubber, gym kit, reading book) on the correct days helps to build up the child’s confidence. The hearing of any reading homework and discussion of the pictures in such books generally aids the progress in the early stages of learning to read. With this in mind, the staff will issue, as part of the homework policy, some guidelines to assist parents with different areas of P1 work as the child needs it.
A Parents’ meeting is usually held in September for those parents with pupils in P1, so that you can look at what work has been introduced to your child since August. It also provides an opportunity to look at the materials used in Primary 1 and to meet the Class Teacher, Head Teacher and Chair of the Parent Council.
The school consists of:
- a 3 storey building with 4 classrooms, a General Purpose Room, staffroom, gym and dining room.
- the refurbished main building (dated 1895) which contains the administration block, 3 infant classrooms, the nursery and the Support for Learning base.
- The staff warmly welcomes you and your family to the school. We hope that your child/children will be very happy in our village school.
